Brief Background:

Matt Morris, an American Patriot and a veteran, was born on the 14th of June in 1953. He just about never left Baton Rouge, Louisiana as small local jobs and school held him down. Sometime after he turned 17 he went to the local recruiting office to enlist; he didn't have a specific branch in mind but one of which intrigued him the most. Shortly he went to the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) in New Orleans. As he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps from an office to the right of the Mississippi River he was sent off to Parris Island. Thirteen weeks later he graduated with Platoon 272 in the year 1970 on the 9th of September. As he was a Squad Leader of his platoon he was promoted to Private First Class upon leaving Boot Camp, as well as the other Squad Leaders, Scribe, and Guide. He also graduated with the National Defense Service Medal as he joined a branch of the United States Military during the time of war, and he also earned a Rifle Sharpshooter badge whilst in Boot Camp. He was transported back to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to visit with his family as he was placed on one week of leave before going to Infantry School. Due to his decent size height and moderate weight at the time he was selected for the Military Occupational Specialty (MOS), 0331 (Machine Gunner). Upon passing Infantry School he was almost immediately sent off to Vietnam. One of the main operations he participated in was, Operation Lam Son 719, when the South Vietnamese attempted to disrupt the Ho Chi Minh Trail but began to withdraw upon taking massive causalities. In Vietnam, Matt, loved it and hated it; he made a lot of great friends and lost a few. Undoubtedly he fought hard and to the best of his ability during the last 5 years of the war. In 1982, Matt, had reenlisted three times prior in four year blocks. At this time, Matt, decided he would return to the civilian world; due to, Matt, having a proficiency and conduct rating between 3.0/4.0 he was able to be released with an Honorable Discharge. At the age of 32 in 1985, Matt, had his first and only marriage that would only last four years, the love ran dry so him and his partner decided to part ways in 1989. Matt never had anything more than a High School education so the jobs that he held weren't always the best paying, and when he split with his wife he was working at a laundromat. Sometime in 1991 the laundromat closed down so he did a few odd jobs here and there but he all together stopped paying rent where he was staying because he rather have the little bit of money earned then not have it at all. He was then booted out after missing his rent payments, so he hit the streets for a little bit while living in his 1973 Chevy 3/4 Ton Pickup. Half a tank later he ended up selling the truck for a decent sum of cash to help him out as he roamed the United States doing low paying jobs in his battle fatigues.
