Character Backstory:
Wilson grew up a couple of counties west of Kansas City. His dad was a farmer for some big agricultural conglomerate who's name changed every five or so years. Will put in work on the farm, even though he didn't care who the produce was going to. His mom was a seamstress, and did odd jobs for other families in the area. Making quilts, fixing up kids costumes, tailoring suits, that kinda stuff. She set up her own Etsy shop a couple years back, which Will thought was cool. Will was always more inclined to do stuff with his hands, and had an affinity for math and science. When he finally got into shop class in High school, he knew he wanted to go into electrical engineering. Both of his parents were supportive, even though deep down his dad had always wanted him to take up farming. It worked out well enough for him from there; he got a work truck from one of dad's friends, and did work around the area. Turns out he was the only certified electrician in the tri-county area, and he thinks he knows why. Some of the farmhouses in the area were older than the current flag. All the wiring was old as hell and dangerous to deal with. Such was living in the 'windswept plains'. Nothing fuckin' happened and nobody ever changed. At the end of the day however, he had a lot of stuff going for him. He was in charge of his own business, his parents were still letting him live with them for free, and he had a consistent customer base. He was doing pretty alright for himself. He'd save up enough and move to Oregon or something. Least that's what he told himself.
When all this started down south a couple months ago, his dad doubled down on the 'backwater, farmer conspiracy-theory, survivalist' paranoia. He'd always been prone to it, but it was never as extreme as it got once the infection crossed into Texas. He got a bunch of non-perishables, guns, ammo, survivalist books, other random stuff to 'protect and sustain in case of an emergency', as he would say. Wilson wasn't too worried at the start, and neither was his Mom. When the infection started ramping up, both of them quickly came around. Will didn't have the same insular survivalist thought process his Dad did though. He'd often sneak out at night, like he'd sometimes do in high school, to help out other families in the area. Still electrical stuff for the most part, ironically enough. He'd set up generators and alarm systems, and occasionally give out a bit of food or other supplies they had too much of for themselves. Stuff got worse and worse as the months ticked by though, and he had to stop heading out, to his chagrin. One bright day, Wilson went out to check on the farm's fences. With what the news had described the diseased as, he figured some good cattle fences would be mighty useful in the coming weeks. When he came back, he found that some looters, or some refugees, or somebody, had run up to the house and broken in. He didn't know why it happened, but his Mother and Father were both dead. Dad fell down the stairs, or got pushed, and mom looked like she got stabbed. He was pretty fuckin' angry and depressed, as one might suspect. It wasn't until the next day, after he'd tried to call emergency services, cried, looked for neighbors (who he realized had evacuated), cried some more, and buried both of them in the front lawn that he realized the killers had ransacked the house. They certainly didn't look very hard, maybe they were in a hell of a rush, having, you know, murdered an innocent couple. Will stayed around the farm a couple more days, but sooner rather than later realized it was only gonna get worse. And, with smoke on the horizon, he didn't wanna be in the middle of the harvest. He grabbed what supplies weren't looted, which luckily enough was plenty to keep him going, packed them in his truck along with his tools. He then headed out to find another place, or some other people, to survive with.
I have ZERO idea what it is you're saying Image
