  1. I understand the idea, and think it's something we may be able to expand off of as a platform, but I agree with Empty that steam RP isn't the best option. I do prefer logs on the server just for record keeping sake in case of disputes and the like. Another problem I see with this (This isn't a knock against the idea more so this is what I see people trying with us allowing it) is people who leave the server for long periods at a time coming back saying they get X and X and X because they were off map and deserve loot for not playing on the server (we get people doing that already, I just see more people doing it with this) Now off map excursions and the like, I'd be willing to work with that more. We want to use the event server more often, I think it would be great for an off map trek to wherever going down more often. I would be more than happy to plan a smaller event like that with interested players. Though I feel going off map in a lot of situations is going to be more high risk situations than low risk, though that will be determined by the event and location. But overall I'd be happy to work with you guys to put the event server to better use for off map excursions and maybe even let some player controlled events happen there!
  2. We're not going anywhere. And having more people "Idling" brings others in, so it's really appreciated. The more people that join regularly, the more we can do to keep the server rolling. I personally have no problem continuing the story with a small playerbase, one reason I love this setting so much is a small player base can have as much interaction and character development as a large one. And as we start getting our regulars back on, others will start finding the server again :P
  3. We've been through dips in population before, it happens every few months. It sucks when it happens but we've been through it before and I'm sure it will happen again. So long as we have a core group of dedicated players like you guys we'll be just fine in the end. Sometimes people just need a break from Gmod, I know I try taking breaks from it from time to time. I've got over 8,000 hours in Gmod, I burn myself out on it and I'm sure others do as well. We'll continue to offer the best narrative we can with the people we have to the best of our ability!
  4. Life hit some people (Empty vanished to another flood) Some people aren't able to get on at all, as you stated you're unable to. I know we have members that can only get on on the weekend, and other who never get on on the weekend so it kind of conflicts there. Knomad and I are on consistently, he more than I, but I get on as often as I can, over the last week I've had quiet a few concerts that prevented me from getting on but I get on as much as I can. We still run events for the people who do get on as we can. Unless it's something major we're doing horrible wrong as admins (Which if that's the case, tell us we want to fix our problems) It's just a matter of people being busy with life, the gmod RP community being small and people not joining servers until there's 10 people at a minimum in them :P Personally I'm going to be continuing the story with whatever player base we have, as long as everyone that does join is able to have fun, that's all that matters to me.
  5. But you're not at the top Sir Smiles, You're at the bottom of the top, begging for air to get to the top!
  6. He ain't even tryin' anymore.
  7. Carrie is basically PKed for what she's done she was given a second chance, just like Richard's being given a second chance, she messed up and paid the price so that comparison doesn't work. People have been kicked out of the group for showing that they are a threat or dangerous to the whole. People have been killed who have cause major trouble. If you can show an actual place where we play favorites OOC, truly, we'll look into it. But remember, playing favorites can absolutely happen IC, it's a human flaw characters have. Ok. Again, not hating OOC but honestly you try doing Take this piss RP. It's honestly fucking boring, ecspecially when you've tried to help the group but in the end you get the blame. Yeah, Richard has fucked up but he has tried to redeem himself but at the end he get's the blame and the blames led him to insanity. Taking the Piss RP is only bareable for so long dude. Anyway, I'm getting off topic. While I understand that it's not the most fun to be in the situation Richard's in, but that's a situation he's managed to get himself into. As far as I can tell your main complaints is how things have gone down in the RP itself. If you have something we're doing that's unfair OOCly please let us know we want this server to be as fair as possible to everyone. Richard's in a rough situation, that if dealt with right, he can be fine eventually. But I personally do not see any issues with the situation as it's unfolded in an OOC manner. If you think something related to this was caused by something in OOC feel free to bring it up, though maybe PM it to me as we've ruined this topic now.
  8. (Plus Richard losing his weapons was his own fault.) And then we're just throwing giant infected at them to get rid of their ammo or their weapons, which really isn't fun to constantly lose your stuff that you worked hard for. It's a tight rope that we walk along between giving things out, and saying no to things but we feel it's the most fair option we can do. We do our best to not play favorites when spawning stuff, but the more active people are obviously more likely to find things, or be involved in an event that offers a reward at the end. Sorry, I mean I agree Richard fucked up but he seems to be the only character you punished. Sorry if I come off as an asshole but I'm going to be assertive. It kind of does seem like you play favorites. I worked hard to scavenge and trade for the glock while people like Carrie (Who yes did work hard for it, I assume) Aimed a gun at me and suffered no consequence. It does kind of seem you play favorites in term of who get's punishment and who doesn't.

  11. I think again you're missing the points Empty is making. We don't want total control over everything that everyone has. But we are keeping a tight watch on what weapons are spawned and given out to people. This is to keep a balanced system in place so not everyone has everything all the time. There are a lot of powerful weapons in circulation already, and we add more as time goes as different rewards and such, however not everyone has super powerful snipers, or fully automatic rifles and such. (Plus Richard losing his weapons was his own fault.) This has nothing to do with not wanting people to get a weapon, it has to do with keeping things balanced and interesting. If everyone suddenly had the most powerful equipment they can get, then having someone get a shotgun as a reward means nothing to that person if they've already got powerful military equipment. And then we're just throwing giant infected at them to get rid of their ammo or their weapons, which really isn't fun to constantly lose your stuff that you worked hard for. It's a tight rope that we walk along between giving things out, and saying no to things but we feel it's the most fair option we can do. We do our best to not play favorites when spawning stuff, but the more active people are obviously more likely to find things, or be involved in an event that offers a reward at the end. And in response to Postal, yes as weapons are given out and people get more powerful equipment, the infected and challenge level is already going up. We work very hard to keep this balance between what the players have and what we throw at them. Maybe it would help for you to see what we do first hand, I know you're busy, which I understand and I appreciate you keeping up with the community here on the forums, I think it's great! But you said you like how we were doing it at the beginning when you were able to play, our methods have changed here and there but they've always followed these same principles and so far it seems to be making most people happy with that they get, but always looking for something else, which is what we want. And by this I mean, get on we miss you!
  12. Ok, but why were Carrie and Olivia allowed to be made then? They have weapons. The events the server has given us has barely affected us, we need something that will affect us and that we can make a storyline out of. As for weapons inflammation. It's the zombie apocalypse, guns are all around anyone can get one from finding it or trading with traders it's not that hard. +Support if my opinion matters. I think you literally ignored everything Empty said. And saying why were Carrie and Olivia allowed to be made isn't even an argument. They are characters in their own right with their own personalities and qualities that added a human aspect to their existence. I can see this character hopefully having the same qualities. I feel the generic big mean bandit that just wants to kill and steal is boring, sure we throw them in there from time to time because they exist, but I personally, hate the idea of losing a character, or even my items to something generic like that, and I know a huge portion of the community hates that idea as well. I much prefer characters like Carrie and Olivia who are part of the group that cause issues from the inside while actually still seeming human. Minus the Rifle, I'd be willing to switch it out with a shotgun, or pistol, or something else of the sort, following what Empty said. As well as us knowing that this character isn't just a generic bandit that has literally no morals and only cares to harm people just any chance they get. And that this wont be someone who's just out to PK people every chance they get, I'd be willing to give this +Support.
  13. Pssssh y'all ain't got the power.
  14. I'll throw my support in, seems like an interesting idea.
  15. I'm not sure what this would accomplish past micromanage more things. The character request forum is meant for both infected applications and normal characters. If someone wants to apply for a special infected they can do that as well as just common infected there as well. I'm not sure I understand what splitting the forums up would accomplish.
  16. There's only so many maps we can use before we either run out of good ones or have to start repeating. We're gonna need a map to call home eventually that's just inevitable We are all well aware of the time it will take to have a map made. We'll be discussing with a few map creators and figure out who's going to give us the best time frame while giving us the best results. We want a good looking, solid map, something that we're proud of. The time isn't an issue in my opinion, We can keep the server going as status quo without the map. We're not gonna just shut down waiting for the map or anything like that.
